    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: 15 January 2026

    This Privacy Policy explains what information Mossbridge collects when you visit this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you. We collect as little as the site can work with, and we do not sell personal information.

    1. Scope of This Policy

    This policy covers the Mossbridge website, our newsletter, our contact and pitch forms, and our browser-based design tools. It does not cover third-party sites we link to from an article; those services have their own privacy policies, which we recommend you read.

    2. Information You Give Us

    We only collect personal information that you choose to provide, which may include:

    • your name and email address when you subscribe to the newsletter;
    • your name, email address, enquiry type, and message when you use the contact form;
    • project details, documents, and images you send us in support of a pitch or a correction;
    • your email address if you write to one of our published contact addresses.

    You are never required to provide personal information to read the site. Where a form field is optional, we label it as optional.

    3. Information Collected Automatically

    Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure records standard technical data when a page is requested: IP address, browser and operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and a timestamp. These server logs are used for security, debugging, and aggregated traffic reporting.

    We use privacy-respecting measurement of aggregate page views. We do not build profiles of individual readers across other websites, and we do not use cross-site advertising trackers.

    4. Cookies and Local Storage

    We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries where they are necessary for the site to function, such as remembering your theme preference and keeping tool settings between sessions. These are functional rather than advertising cookies.

    Any analytics cookies are set only where permitted by the law that applies to you. You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings; the site will continue to work, though some preferences may reset.

    5. How We Use Your Information

    We use personal information only to:

    • reply to your enquiry, pitch, correction, or rights request;
    • send the newsletter you asked for, and measure whether it is useful;
    • produce and edit editorial coverage, including crediting your submitted material;
    • maintain the security, integrity, and performance of the site;
    • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

    We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your contact details for purposes unrelated to your enquiry.

    7. Newsletter and Email

    If you subscribe, we use your email address to send the newsletter and occasional editorial updates. Every message includes a one-click unsubscribe link. We may also contact you directly if you have written to us about a story.

    Unsubscribing removes you from the mailing list. We may retain a suppression record so that you are not added again by accident.

    8. Sharing and Disclosure

    We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the site and the newsletter—for example hosting, email delivery, and analytics—and only to the extent needed to provide those services. Those providers act on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

    We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of our publication, our contributors, and our readers. If we are ever involved in a merger or transfer of the publication, subscriber data would transfer with it, and this policy would continue to apply.

    9. International Transfers

    Our service providers may store or process data in countries other than your own. Where information leaves your jurisdiction, we use appropriate safeguards—such as standard contractual clauses—and limit the data transferred to what the service requires.

    10. Retention

    We keep enquiry and pitch correspondence for as long as needed to handle the matter and to evidence our editorial process, then delete or archive it in a form that no longer identifies individuals. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are rotated on a short cycle, typically days to a few weeks.

    11. Your Rights and Choices

    Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

    Requests can be sent to the contact address published on our Contact page. We will verify your identity where necessary and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Where a request concerns the newsletter, the unsubscribe link is usually the faster route.

    12. Security

    The site is served over HTTPS, access to editorial systems is restricted to the people who need it, and we keep the data we hold to a minimum so that there is less of it to protect. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.

    13. Children's Privacy

    This site is intended for a professional audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

    14. Changes to This Policy

    We will update this policy when our practices, our service providers, or the law change. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows when the current version took effect, and material changes will be described in a dated note here.

    15. Contact

    Privacy questions, access requests, and complaints go to our published editorial address. If you are contacting us about data held in connection with an image credit or a rights claim, use the press address so that it reaches the right editor.
