    User Agreement

    Last updated: 15 January 2026

    This User Agreement explains the rules that apply to you as a reader, subscriber, or contributor when you use Mossbridge—from browsing the archive to subscribing to the newsletter, running our design tools, or sending us a pitch. It supplements our Terms of Service, which covers the site generally.

    1. What This Agreement Covers

    This agreement applies whenever you interact with the site rather than simply reading it, including subscribing to the newsletter, submitting a pitch or correction, and using the spatial design tools. The Terms of Service apply in full alongside it; where the two differ, this agreement governs your use of those interactive features.

    By subscribing, submitting, or using a tool, you accept this agreement. If you do not accept it, simply do not use those features—the archive remains open to read.

    2. Browsing Without an Account

    Reading Mossbridge does not require registration, and we do not ask you to create a profile to access articles, the materials reference, or the tools. Where a feature does ask for your email address, it does so because we need to reply to you or send you something you requested.

    Because there is no account system, deleting your newsletter record or correspondence is handled by request rather than by a self-service dashboard. Details are set out in our Privacy Policy.

    3. Newsletter Subscription

    Subscribing adds your email address to our mailing list for the newsletter and occasional editorial updates. You confirm that the address belongs to you or that you are authorised to subscribe on behalf of the recipient.

    Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe link. You may not use subscription forms to add third parties without their consent, to distribute unsolicited material, or to probe the list for addresses. We may remove any subscription that appears to be automated, abusive, or misused.

    4. Your Conduct on the Site

    You agree not to:

    • submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, or knowingly false;
    • impersonate another person, practice, or organisation;
    • upload material containing malware, or attempt to overwhelm, probe, or disrupt the site;
    • use automated systems to submit forms, scrape content, or extract data at volume;
    • misrepresent an association with Mossbridge or with any practice covered here; or
    • use our addresses to send bulk or unsolicited commercial messages.

    We may refuse, remove, or ignore any submission, and may block access to interactive features, where we reasonably believe this agreement has been broken.

    5. Submitting Pitches and Corrections

    When you send us material, you confirm that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you have the right to share it, and that it does not infringe another party's copyright, confidentiality, or privacy. Where a submission concerns a client's project, it is your responsibility to have the necessary permission before sending drawings, images, or performance data.

    You keep ownership of your material and grant us the non-exclusive licence described in our Terms of Service so that we can edit, publish, and credit it. We may verify submissions with the practice concerned before publication, and we may decline anything we cannot substantiate.

    Corrections are welcome from anyone, including the practices we write about. Verified corrections are appended to the article with their date, in line with our editorial standards.

    6. Design Tools and Their Outputs

    The design tools—golden ratio overlays, the colour palette builder, lighting simulation, and the space planner—run in your browser for study, teaching, and early-stage exploration. They are provided for reference. Their output depends entirely on the values you enter.

    You may use the outputs in your own project work and teaching materials. You may not resell the tools, repackage them as a competing product, or present their output as a professional certification, approval, or measured assessment.

    Tool outputs are not architectural or engineering advice and do not replace the judgement of a qualified professional who has assessed the actual site and building.

    7. Availability of Features

    Interactive features may change, be withdrawn, or become temporarily unavailable—for maintenance, for technical reasons, or because we decide the feature no longer serves readers. We do not guarantee that a tool or a subscription service will continue in its current form.

    We are not responsible for reproducing outputs you have not saved yourself; store anything you need to keep in your own systems.

    8. Suspension and Termination

    We may suspend or end your access to interactive features, and remove a newsletter subscription, if you breach this agreement, if required by law, or to protect the site and its readers. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

    You can end this agreement at any time by unsubscribing and by refraining from using the interactive features. Provisions that by their nature should survive—licences over material already published, disclaimers, and liability limits—continue to apply.

    9. Your Responsibilities and Indemnity

    You are responsible for the material you submit, for how you use the tools and their outputs, and for ensuring that your use complies with the law where you are. If a third party brings a claim against us because of material you submitted without the necessary rights, you agree to cooperate with us in responding to it.

    10. Disclaimers

    The site and its interactive features are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the tools will be error-free, that results will meet your expectations, or that content is free of inaccuracies. Our editorial standards describe how we work, not a guarantee of any particular outcome.

    11. Changes to This Agreement

    We may update this agreement to reflect changes to the site or the law. The revised version takes effect when posted, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Significant changes will be noted on this page, and continuing to use the interactive features means you accept them.

    12. Contact

    Questions about this agreement, permission requests, and reports of misuse go to the addresses published on our Contact page.
